Recycling and Disposal of Catering Equipment

Last Updated: 26th Mar 2024

Why Recycle Responsibly?

"In a world where increasing emphasis is placed on environmentally friendly and responsible practices it's vital that everyone does their part. When equipment reaches the end of its useful life, it's imperative to understand and adhere to acceptable, and legal, methods of disposal."

Commercial catering equipment consists of numerous metals and mechanical components which, unless disposed of correctly, can have a damaging and lasting effect on the environment. All catering appliances must be emptied, stored and disposed of responsibly and within legislative guidelines by a regulated body. While manufacturers, distributors and producers must demonstrate a responsible attitude it is also vital that customers endeavour to see that safe recycling and disposal is carried out.

Recycling Services

The majority of manufacturers will offer a recycling and disposal service. Where manufacturer services aren't available we recommend contacting your local authority or a reputable company listed in your area.

Ordered a new piece of equipment and arranged for recycling and disposal through the same manufacturer? It is important to bear in mind that not all recycling services will be carried out on the same day as delivery. Equipment remains your responsibility, that includes in regard to environmental aspects, so make sure you have suitable storage for old units until they can be collected.

All units scheduled on a recycle service must be ready to collect outside the premises on the day of collection.

The Cost of Recycling

Due to the many variables involved when quoting a price for recycling and disposal services, it is difficult to give a standardised fixed cost. Being dependent on the type of equipment, dimensions, weight and location of the product, should you require a service, prices are generally available on a POA basis. Contact us for more details.
